Clear The Shelters 2019 Volunteer Assignment Sign-Up
You will be required to attend an orientation. Please select the date/time you will attend at the bottom of this form.

In addition, you will select your TOP TWO assignment preferences. We will do our very best to assign you your preference and hope you understand that your assignment may be different from your selection(s).

If you are a CURRENT/ACTIVE Dallas Animal Services Volunteer, please continue to SECTION 2 to select your preference; otherwise, you are welcome to select from Section 1 (this includes volunteer groups that have not attended a formal volunteer orientation).

SIGN-UP PREFERENCE IS AVAILABLE THROUGH MONDAY, AUGUST 12th. Any sign-up preferences received after this date will be assigned where we have availability, or possibly earlier if all slots are filled prior to August 12th. Thank you!

SECTION 1: VOLUNTEER ASSIGNMENT SIGN-UP
New and Existing Volunteers can select from one of the following assignments below.

SETUP CREW (6-9 am)
Prepare parking areas with cones, traffic movement
Pop-up tents in needed location for shading
Other logistical prep as needed

WELCOME CREW VOLUNTEERS
Assist customers waiting in line outside building
Instruct customers on the no pets or strollers rule ī‚Ÿ
Answering questions about CTS for customers in line
Assist with volunteer check-in

DIRECTION GUIDE VOLUNTEERS
Assist with customers watching welcome video. ī‚Ÿ
Assist with guiding directions for customers in adoptions lobby and adoptions area
Assist customers with general questions

LINE MONITOR VOLUNTEERS
Check applications and ensure paperwork is complete
Answer questions for customers in line
Help with assigning numbers to adopters
Monitor applications line and seating to ensure hallway remains passable

HAPPY TAILS & DOG PICKUP VOLUNTEERS
Assist customers exiting the building
Assist customers toward the adoption photography area
Assist customers, as needed, to help hold pets while vehicles are brought for pickup

TRAFFIC CONTROL VOLUNTEERS
Monitor parking lot for available parking spaces ī‚Ÿ
Assist customers with directions to CTS line or Lost & Found as applicable
Assist customers with Lost & Found animals into correct doorway as needed
Communicate with Animal Control Officer on status of available parking
Assist customers finding available parking spaces

MASCOT
Be one of our new mascots (one cat and one dog costume)
Walk around and wave/greet our adopters, particularly the children!
A great way to participate and remain anonymous 😊

TEAR DOWN CREW (4-7 pm)
Take down all traffic/parking equipment
Take down tents and remove other equipment set up for event

SECTION 2: ACTIVE VOLUNTEER ASSIGNMENT SIGN-UP
Existing (active) DAS Volunteers and Rescues can select from one of the following assignments below. If you are currently not a verified DAS Volunteer you will need to select from Section 1. Please know that once these positions fill, we will select where you can be of help that may not be your preference.


CAT VOLUNTEERS
Encourage customer adoptions
Monitor customers petting cats in their cages
Take cats out for customers
Assist staff to clean cat cages, as needed
Help customers navigate the room
Ensure customers sanitize during interactions
Ensure water bowl levels are sufficient
Monitor the Get Acquainted Room


DOG VOLUNTEERS
Encourage customer adoptions
Monitor customer entry into kennels
Take dogs out (on leash only) to do meet and greets
Assist staff to clean dog kennels, as needed
Help customers navigate the room
Monitor the Get Acquainted Room
Ensure water bowl levels are good
Ensure customers sanitize during interactions


RUNNER VOLUNTEERS
Prepare and bring adopted animals from kennels to the adoptions desk to go home!


PHOTO STORY VOLUNTEERS
Assist customers and their new pets taking adoption photos
Assist photographer as needed
