Science Clubs
The role of science clubs has to be understood for its real worth in order to mainstream it as a robust platform of learning. This has not been adequately captured or understood especially in an emerging Indian context. This is especially so when such aspects as energy, water, conservation and health are assuming increasing relevance for participatory management.

Short biography
BK Tyagi develops concepts and implements science communication initiatives relevant at the local and national levels. Theme specific interventions as standalone events or as part of large scale campaigns cover such areas as natural resources management, celestial phenomena and fundamentals of science.  Several radio serials were produced in 18 Indian languages, broadcast from 119 radio stations, covering about 92% of the geographical area of the country. His work has been presented in national and international forums on science communication. He has also authored a book titled “Usage of Folk media for Science communication” in 2010 by an Indian publisher.  At  present  he  is  pursuing  his  PhD   on  “Role  of  science  clubs  in  Science Communication”.  He  has  authored  many  papers which  have  been  presented  in  several  national  and international conferences.
Synopsis of the Project:
The proposed study is about the forms, functions and the roles/impact of science clubs. This is with special reference to the spread & depth of S&T communication achieved through them. Some of the important  research  questions  pertain  to  the  optimal  functioning  of  science  clubs  and  the circumstances that can enable them to deliver better. These circumstances could relate to networking among  science  clubs,  accesses  to  information,  experiential  learning  and  further  onward communication with communities. The objective of the study is to define the enabling circumstances that  will  reinforce  the  value  of  science  clubs  and  propose  the  architecture  of  such  enabling circumstances for science clubs to deliver optimally.
