    What is LaTeX?

LaTeX (pronounced “lay-tek” or “lah-tek”) is a free program for making scientific and technical documents, and is the standard for professionals in many STEM fields. Its purpose is to make it easy to write elegant technical documents. To do this, LaTeX simplifies the process of creating such components as mathematical formulae, tables, and bibliographies. Almost all formatting and document structure is automatic, allowing the user to focus on content creation. At the same time, LaTeX allows fine-grained control over each aspect of a document.

    What is the LaTeX Workshop?

The Brown Science Center will be holding a series of seven workshops on LaTeX 2:00-3:30 pm and 4:00-5:30 pm on Sundays, starting February 23. The workshops will range from introductory to advanced, and will include sessions on making problem sets, lab reports, CVs, resumes and more in LaTeX. Each workshop will consist of a presentation, followed by time for students to practice what they learned and work individually with instructors. You may attend any or all of the sessions.
