"Called to Serve" Survey for St. Paul's Episcopal Church
How would you like to serve our community this year? Please indicate the items you are interested in below. This does not commit you to anything other than receiving more information about the specific areas you select.
Serving Meals: Meal prep and serving lunch on weekends or on call. One weekend/month.
Sorting Clothing: Work either in the Clothes Closet or with the Clothes for Work program.
Assemble Meals in a Bag: Assemble meals 1-2 times a year at Life House. This is a part of 5th Wednesday service project nights.
Small Maintenance Projects: Painting, assembling furniture, as needed.
Painting Projects: Time commitment varies depending on the project and at least a week's prior notice is given.
Hauling items to the dump
Serving Meals: Serving a Noon meal (11:30 am - 1 pm/1:30 pm) or an evening meal (4:30 pm - 6 pm/6:30 pm) which takes 1 1/2 -2 hours. People can sign up for shifts--once a week, once a month.
Child Care: Child care depends on what time or location - Shelter or Resource Center. It could be as long as 3 hours or as little as an hour.
Shoveling Sidewalks: Time Commitment - on call. A snow blower is available and the parking lot is plowed by a company, so it is just the sidewalks.
On-Call Advocate: Time commitment - 1 weekend/month. See Safe Haven website for details.
Loaves and Fishes
Prepare evening meal (at 6 pm): Work cab be done at St. Paul's or in your own home. Deliver food to Loaves & Fishes to serve to 15 people. One time/month.
Handyperson work: Help with various projects as they arise.
Donate Supplies: Toilet paper, dish soap, laundry soap, hygiene products, etc. (Pick some up when you are shopping for yourself.)
LAUNDRY LOVE: Develop outreach program providing support for low income & homeless persons to do laundry monthly.
CHUM (Food Shelf)
Intake/Interviewer: Volunteers needed to conduct brief client interviews, volunteers needed on Fridays 9:30 am - 2 pm. One time/month.
Pick up food donated by local businesses (pickup needed): On call to pick up food and deliver to food shelf. Monday-Thursday 9:30 am - 3:30 pm. (If you receive a call and are not available the next person on the list will be called.)
CHUM -Steve O'Neil Apartments
Prepare Lunches: Prepare lunches for approximately 10 kids in the Early Childhood Program. Lunch to be prepared at St. Paul's. Once/week or once/month.
Gardeners: Help with the Community Garden Plot (Once/week, May-October).
Build Shelves: Build shelves for a Community Library at Steve O'Neil Apartments.
Literacy Night: Join families with young children during the school year for America Reads and Counts program and potluck dinner. Once a month.
Coordinate St. Paul's Monthly Collection of the "Most Wanted" item for CHUM food shelf.
Coordinate St. Paul's Back Pack Drive for CHUM. Annually, in August.
Giving Tree: Coordinate St. Paul's Giving Tree Program. (Early November - mid-December.)
Serve Food: Serve food for neighborhood events. Help with children's games.
Meals in Wheels: Deliver meals through program at Ecumen/Lakeshore. Weekly.
Donate Gas Cards, Food Cards, Bus Passes ($10 gas cards, $10 grocery cards, daily bus passes)
SOS and 5th Wednesday Service Projects: Assist Christian Formation Director in organizing these events.
Children's/Youth Service Projects: Assist in planning and implementing youth service projects.
