Creative Child Care & School in Pandemic:  reduce risk of exposure
Is your family looking for creative childcare/school alternatives due to the pandemic? Forming a “quaranteam” with other families may be the answer.

The aim of this survey is to help connect Tucson families to one another for reduced risk childcare during the pandemic. This option of childcare is for families who will not be sending their children to physical daycare/school in the fall.

My family lives in Richland Heights East. Our son is 3.5 years old and needs friends to socialize and learn with, while we need a low-risk childcare option. This has birthed the concept of bubbling with other families to meet those needs and to help others find a reduced-risk childcare option.


THE IDEA IS TO FORM A QUARANTEAM
Families you hang out with in pandemic who all assume the same level of exposure risk. Essentially, forming one germ pool for the benefits of childcare/schooling, work and community. Due to the small number of families who bubble together, this option has a greater reduced risk of exposure (vs. regular attendance at school or daycare). It may also offer greater stability of work opportunity, as it is less likely to shut down due to an outbreak. Bubbling has the additional benefit of families being able to have fun together vs. continued isolation.

 • MOST CHILDREN WILL LIKELY BE MASK-FREE WITH NO SOCIAL DISTANCING but each team determines what they are comfortable with on all fronts and each team will look different.
• BABIES/PRESCHOOL: primarily play-based bubbles that likely rotate between houses  / watched by parents.
• GRADE SCHOOL & HIGHER: parent guided (or possible hiring of a tutor/teacher who follows same risk exposure) to facilitate side-by-side remote learning and free time to play and hang. Homeschooling connections possible here. Likely rotating between houses.
