OThe UK-UG DCCA seeks to acknowledge outstanding leaders and contributors within the UK-Ugandan diaspora. These lifetime recognition awards celebrate impactful and sustained efforts in fostering community cohesion, leadership, and integration. While focusing on the UK-Ugandan community, the awards also promote inclusivity by inviting participation from other minority diaspora groups, emphasizing diversity and unity.

The initiative aligns with the broader goal of strengthening the Uganda-UK diaspora ecosystem and recognizing its integration into the UK's social, political, and economic fabric.

RATIONALE: The Ugandan diaspora in the UK has evolved significantly, growing in diversity and professional representation. Despite limited accurate population data, the community is estimated to number over 202,000 individuals (World Bank, 2021). This demographic shift underscores the community's growing influence and contribution to both the UK and Uganda.

These awards aim to: Celebrate achievements in fostering community cohesion/Highlight the diaspora's evolving role beyond stereotypes, showcasing contributions across professional and societal domains.

Unite the community across divisions of politics, culture, religion, and economics.

Aims: Promote community cohesion and inclusivity within the UK-Ugandan diaspora/Strengthen community capacity and philanthropy.

Objectives: Recognize outstanding contributions to diaspora welfare and integration into British society/Encourage inclusive representation and collaboration/Highlight and support initiatives that impact both the UK and Uganda positively.
