스텔라데이지호의 ‘구명벌 재수색’과 ‘블랙박스 회수’를 요구합니다!
Recover the black box of the Stellar Daisy and resume searching for life rafts!

2017년 3월 31일 세월호가 인양되던 날, 남대서양에서 폴라리스 쉬핑㈜의 화물선 스텔라데이지호가 침몰했습니다. 스텔라데이지호는 일본에서 폐선하려던 유조선을 싼 값에 사들여 중국에서 화물선으로 개조한, 25년 된 노후선박으로 '제2의 세월호'라 불리고 있습니다. 침몰 후 자동으로 펼쳐진 Liferaft(구명벌) 2척이 현재까지 발견되지 않았습니다.
On March 31st 2017, the Sewol Ferry was raised, but on the same day the Stellar Daisy, owned by Polaris Shipping Co., Ltd, sank in the South Atlantic. The ship was bought cheaply from Japan when she was about to retire from service. She was then renovated to a freighter in China. The Stellar Daisy was an old vessel at 25 years and has been called the “Second Sewol ferry”. Two life rafts that auto-released after the sinking have not yet been found.
1.2018년 2월 24일, 남대서양에서 발견된 구명보트 : 스텔라데이지호 침몰지점과 가까운 곳에서 우연히 구명보트가 발견되었습니다. 이 구명보트는 14개월 동안 문이 열린 채 표류했지만 마시던 물병이 남아있을 정도로 파손 없이 멀쩡했습니다. 스텔라데이지호의 미발견 구명벌 2척도 이처럼 온전한 상태로 여전히 구조의 손길을 기다리고 있을 가능성을 어느 누구도 부정할 수 없습니다. 아직 희망이 있습니다. 구명벌을 재수색하여 선원 22명(한국인 8명, 필리핀인 14명)이 가족의 품으로 돌아오도록 끝까지 추적해야 합니다.
On the 24th of February 2018, a lifeboat was found in the South Atlantic, spotted near the scene. With doors open, it had drifted for 14 months. No damage was found – even used water bottles were found intact. Therefore, no one can deny the possibility of the two life rafts from the Stellar Daisy may still be waiting to be rescued. There is hope still. Search for the life rafts must resume to rescue the 22 missing crew members (8 Koreans, 14 Filipinos) and bring them back to their families.
2.1980년, 태평양에서 침몰한 영국 화물선 ‘더비셔호’ : 영국 정부와 선사는 태풍 때문에 침몰되었다고 주장했으나, 심해수색장비를 투입하여 조사한 결과 사고원인은 선박의 구조적 결함이었습니다. 이후 영국에서는 선박의 안전기준이 강화되었고, 블랙박스 장착이 의무화되었습니다.
스텔라데이지호의 선사인 폴라리스 쉬핑㈜은 선박 침몰이 기상악화 때문이었다고 주장합니다. 그러나 사고 1년이 지났지만 해양경찰 조차도 수사결과를 발표하지 못하고 있습니다. 반드시 사고 당시의 모든 상황과 항해기록이 저장되어 있는 블랙박스를 회수하여 사고원인을 명확히 밝히고, 아직도 버젓이 운항하고 있는 개조노후선 27척의 사고 재발을 막아야 합니다. 제2의 스텔라데이지호는 더 이상 없어야 합니다.
In 1980, a UK freighter MV Derbyshire sank in the Pacific: the UK government and the ferry company claimed it was caused by a typhoon. However, marine research using deep sea search equipment found the structural flaws to be the reason. Later, health and safety regulations for ships became stricter and black box installation became mandatory.
The Polaris Shipping is claiming the reason for the sinking is due to adverse weather. However, the Coast Guard are unable to release their investigation report even until now. The black box contains recordings of the situation at that time and Automatic Identification System (AIS) information must be recovered to establish the cause, and also to prevent similar incidents happening to a further 27 overage ships which are on service after refurbishments.

2. 정부는 블랙박스를 회수하여 선원 탈출여부 및 사고원인을 확인하고 재발방지대책을 마련해 주십시오.
The government must recover the black box to confirm whether the crew members escaped, the reasons of sinking, and establish prevention measures.
