UBCO is hosting the Western Engineering Competition in 2022! We are looking for passionate, experienced, and dedicated individuals to be our competition directors, responsible for designing, arranging, and preparing the specific competitions, with support and guidance from faculty, WESST, and community partners. The event is tentatively scheduled to be held from the 19th to the 23rd in January 2022 at UBC Okanagan Campus and Delta Hotels by Marriot Grand Okanagan Resort.

In return, you will gain invaluable experience planning and executing a major engineering conference, which will be a source of connections within industry and community networks as you collaborate with stakeholders and interact with attendees (delegates and presenters).
Competition Director responsibilities are as follows:
-Understand Rulebook
-Preliminary Case Development
-Coordinating Initial Review
-Preliminary Case Troubleshooting and First Attempt (Internal)
-External Subject Matter Expert Case Review
-Recorded and Observed Test with non-Competing Students, preferably strong in the competition category
-Building Final Case Document
-Building Case Briefing Presentation
-Present Case Briefing Presentation to VP Competitions for critique
-Present Case to Delegates
-Be point of contact for competition
-Making minor rulebook rulings, with VP Comps involvement
-Referencing VP Comps for all major rulebook rulings
-Coordinating Reviews with Judges
-Coordinating Use of Timekeeper volunteers
-Submitting Results to VP Competitions for advancing to CEC-AB
