Petition

Charlotte's current food truck regulations, and the proposed changes to those regulations, make it extremely difficult for food trucks to operate. We want to change the city’s regulations to allow food trucks to park on public property, and accept jobs on both public and private property. We need your support whether you are a food truck fan, food truck owner or restaurateur. We will not share your information with anyone.

STATEMENT IN SUPPORT OF CHARLOTTE FOOD TRUCKS

Dear Charlotte Mayor, Charlotte City Manager and Charlotte City Council,

We, the undersigned residents, businesses, associations and restaurants of Charlotte, ask the city council to consider zoning changes that will allow food trucks to park and conduct business on public and private property. They deserve the freedom to accept business when they are requested to provide it.

Food trucks can provide tremendous benefits to Charlotte and our communities, and we want to ensure they are allowed to conduct their business with the same liberties afforded other industries. Food trucks increase foot traffic and benefit restaurants and other brick-and-mortar establishments with an increased customer base. They provide new jobs, allow chefs to test out new concepts, expand opportunities for restaurants to grow their businesses, activate underused spaces, and make our communities even safer places to live.

We support allowing Charlotte's food truck operators to grow their businesses by accepting privately contracted events at businesses, at special events in residential areas, and anywhere else their customers want them, including office parks, offices and businesses not in officially designated office parks, at food truck rallies on private lots, and public parking spaces.
