The Aquinas and More Book Club Application
Welcome!

Reading fiction and philosophy literature. We share our thoughts on the current book we're reading and discuss a variety of different topics.
The Club is named after Saints Thomas Aquinas and Saint Thomas More, patron saints of philosophy and literature. More information on them can be found from the following links:

Below are the Club Rules:
  1. Intentionally blaspheming against Our Lord or the saints will not be tolerated, and will result in instant ban. Taking Our Lord's name in vain will result in deletion of the message, correction, and banning upon repeated offense.
  2. Sexually explicit material will likewise result in an instant ban.
  3. While being Catholic is not a requirement to join the club, members must still show reverence for Christ, His Mother, the saints and His Church. Questions about the faith and valid criticism of the actions of particular clergymen is acceptable, but conversations must remain civil and respectful.
  4. Try to keep content and messages generally respectful, prudent and non-provocative.
  5. Gossip will not be tolerated.
  6. Try to keep discussions generally related to the book we're currently reading.
  7. Vulgar language should be kept to a minimum.
  8. You must be at least 16 years old to join.
Book Rotation Process:
  • Book Selection: The host will ultimately determine which books are eligible for selection. At designated times, members may suggest books for consideration. The host will then select a number of those suggestions, along with any books of his own choosing, to appear on the next poll.

  • Member Voting: Members will vote among the books on the list. The book receiving the majority of votes will become the Club's next reading.

  • Reading Period: Each book will be given an appropriate amount of time for members to read and discuss it. Longer works will generally be allotted more time than shorter works.

  • Discussion: Members may discuss the selected book throughout the reading period, with the discussion taking place through the Club's online community. Members should avoid spoilers for portions of the book that others may not yet have reached.

  • Moving to the Next Book: Once the allotted reading period has ended, discussion will move toward the next selected work. A new poll will be opened, allowing members to choose the following book.

  • Host's Role: The host will oversee the reading schedule, determine which suggestions are eligible for each poll, set reasonable reading periods, and facilitate discussion, while allowing members to have the primary voice in deciding what the Club reads.

If accepted into the club, you will be sent a link to join the Book Club via email. The club is hosted on readfeed.com. Sharing this link without permission will result in a ban.
