UB Women in STEM Brown Bag Lunch Lecture March 21, 2017, 12 noon - 1pm, 240 Student Union
Are you hungry for empowerment? UB Women in STEM is sponsoring a brown bag, noon time lecture series that explores gender differences in STEM careers. Our featured speakers will share their insights and challenge your assumptions. Bring your appetite, lunch and a friend!
Opportunities in Cybersecurity: Discussing gender differences and self-efficacy
Presenter: Dr. Laura Amo, Assistant Professor, Management Science and Systems, School of Management
Cybersecurity engagement and awareness applies to everyone, but opportunities to study and train in cybersecurity areas are limited within our educational system. In turn, there is a lack of cyber talent in the USA, and there is low representation of women in cyber fields. Please join Dr. Amo as she discusses her research in cybersecurity, the scale she developed to measure cybersecurity engagement and self-efficacy, and findings with regard to closing the gender gap through opportunities to engage in cyber activities.
