Universities in Sweden have adamantly maintained that they will keep to the government’s official line that Israel has a total right to defend itself. They continue refusing to condemn genocide. Students in Sweden are left without a critical structure where they can assemble with others in the institution to condemn genocide and pursue an immediate ceasefire.

Workers and Students in Swedish Academia for Palestine (WASSAP) are setting up a series of teach-ins and other activities to provide a place for students and academics to gather and criticize the unspeakable genocide underway in Gaza, while planning methods and actions to stop these relentless attacks in any way we can. We met every other Monday and some of the local student movements conduct their activities through our local channels. Right now, we are mobilizing on a national level for Academic BDS across student groups at universities in Sweden. 

WASSAP has no leadership, is action oriented and a new chair is chosen at the meeting every two weeks. The purpose of the group is to share information about and coordinate local action across Swedish universities, as well as engage national campaigns and teach-ins.
