What is a Baby Dedication?A baby dedication is a special gathering where parents may publicly express their desire and commitment to raise their child(ren) in a home that follows Jesus. This declaration is a covenant with God. The Bible teaches us that children are a gift from the Lord. When you choose to dedicate your child to God, you are acknowledging that your child came from the Lord. You are publicly pledging to model and teach God’s Word to your child. While we know we can’t save our children, we can still petition God in prayer for their salvation, and ask Him to use us to be instrumental in this process. In participating in a ceremony before your church family, you are also acknowledging that your family is a part of a larger family; the family of God. This is a reminder to all that we are all members of one body and therefore responsible to be an example of Christ.
What happens at a Baby Dedication? At the beginning of each gathering, we will be setting aside time to dedicate your child(ren).
Your family will be introduced, a verse of your choosing will be read, and a baby picture is shown to the congregation (this picture is provided ahead of time by you (please do so by Sunday, May 5th).
***We encourage you to spend time praying about the verse you choose for your child. We want to use this verse to recognize how God has uniquely gifted each child, and specifically pray into their identity and their future. We hope this will be a verse that you pray over them in the years to come!
After each family has been introduced, Matt Reynolds will speak to the parents and then to the congregation. All the families will walk throughout the aisles so that the congregation can lay their hands on each family and pray for them.
Please fill out this registration form and email a digital picture of your baby to email@example.com by Sunday, May 5, 2019. The dedication will be on Sunday, May 12, 2019.
Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions along the way!
