Please read carefully:

1. Students are placed with teachers on a first-come first-served basis according to lesson placement priority. Please register for private lessons as soon as possible.

2. Eleven lessons are given within each college semester. Lessons must be completed during the semester in which they began. Lessons missed due to illness of the student (doctor's note required) OR lessons missed by the instructor will be made up if possible. Unexcused absences will be counted as one of the eleven lessons. If any conflict or schedule change arises affecting a particular lesson time, the student must notify the teacher at least 48 hours IN ADVANCE. If the teacher feels the reason is valid, the lesson may be rescheduled. If it is impossible to reschedule, the lesson will be forfeited.

3. Fees:

30 minute (non-credit): $360

60 minute (non-credit): $600

60 minute (credit): $600

4. Practice Rooms: All credit and non-credit students residing in school dorms who are taking private lessons will be charged a practice room fee. Practice room keys are available from the Performing & Worship Arts office, with a $20 key deposit placed on your account. Students who do not live in dorms and who have informed the Performing & Worship Arts office of having made other suitable arrangements may have their practice room fee waived (credit or non-credit students).

Practice Room Fees:
Voice/Piano/Drums: $80/sem
Guitar/Violin/Other: $52/sem

Students may sign-up on the bulletin board outside of a practice room to reserve it for a certain time each week. Each student may reserve up to 5 hours per week of practice time per private lesson.

5. Students who repeatedly miss lessons and/or fail to show effort in their studies may be asked to terminate their lessons with no refund.

6. Students may take up to 2 private lessons for credit or non-credit per semester. The Performing & Worship Arts Department Chair and Registrar’s office must approve students who wish to take more than 2 private lessons in a semester.

7. Credit: All Briercrest College students may elect to take lessons for credit upon consent of their faculty instructor. If lessons are taken for credit, these applied hours must be counted in your total class load. The instructor will give those taking lessons for credit a grade at the end of the semester. These grades are figured into student’s GPA. See instructor’s syllabus for requirements & expectations for credit and non-credit students.

8. Add/Drop: ***IMPORTANT*** Private lessons may be refunded if dropped by September 19, 2025 (fall semester) or January 23, 2026 (winter semester). If lessons are dropped before the deadline, the student will only be charged for the lessons already taken. No refunds will be issued for lessons dropped after this date.
