RSVP for The Business of Science Seminar and Networking Reception

The School of Biological Sciences Postdoctoral Association at the University of Texas at Austin is proud to announce its next seminar in the ‘Business of Science’ series. Thomas Kodadek, Vice Chair, Department of Chemistry at the Scripps Institute in Florida will be the featured speaker. Dr. Kodadek is one of the pioneers of the field of chemical biology, which involves the development of chemical tools to monitor and manipulate important processes in biology and medicine, and his work was recognized in 2006 by a prestigious National Institutes of Health (NIH) Director’s Pioneer Award for “exceptionally creative research”. More recently, Miami biotechnology company Opko, Inc. has established a laboratory in Florida for the discovery of novel diagnostic markers for cancer, autoimmune, and neurological diseases using the methods developed in the Kodadek laboratory.

Dr. Kodadek's talk is entitled: "The Ups & Downs of Moving “Disruptive” Diagnostic & Therapeutic Technology From the Lab To the “Real World”, and it will be followed by a networking reception. The event is open to members of both the UT and the local communities. We encourage anyone interested in biotechnology, life sciences, or technology transfer and commercialization to attend. Please help us plan by submitting the RSVP form below.
