WHY WE SUPPORT LON JOHNSON FOR CHAIR OF THE MICHIGAN DEMOCRATIC PARTY
For 18 years, Mark Brewer has been Chair of the Michigan Democratic Party.  We recognize his loyalty and hard work. Michigan’s Democratic U.S. Senators, House members and major partners in our coalition have delivered a vote of “No-Confidence” to our current chair.  They have concluded it is time for a change.  Mr. Brewer’s ability to lead the MDP is irreparably damaged. So, we turn to new leadership.
Lon Johnson is a true progressive who will bring energy, vision and superb strategic and political skills to lead the MDP to victory.  Lon has extensive political experience, a record of success and passion for progressive politics that will move the MDP in a new direction.  After 16 years of heavy Democratic losses in races for state offices in Michigan, Lon is the change we need.
Lon has a keen political mind, excellent temperament and ability to relate to people with diverse backgrounds and experiences.  He knows how to implement a modern technology-driven grassroots campaign on a large scale.
