What is the Teen Advisory Board?
Teen Advisory Board (TAB) is a group of teens who participate in and influence the functioning of the library, especially for teen programming and library materials. TAB is a forum to have your opinion and suggestions heard. It is also an opportunity for additional volunteer hours.
Students in grades 6-12
Must be willing to commit a minimum of 1 hour per month to TAB
Membership in TAB runs through June of 2013
Must be willing to respect the opinions of others
Benefits of TAB
Granted community service/volunteer hours
Involvement may be included on college and/or job resumes
How much time will it require
TAB will involve one hour a month for a meeting; you may choose to devote additional time to program planning, volunteering, or additional TAB programs.
Responsibilities of TAB members
Including but not limited to:
Regular attendance of monthly meetings
Offer suggestions for teen collection development (books, CDs, video games, etc)
Brainstorm teen program and marketing ideas, and help set-up/clean-up
Promote the library, its services and activities in school and in the community
We will meet as a group at least once per month for approximately one hour. During the meeting we will discuss and plan upcoming activities, book suggestions, programming ideas, and ways the library can help teens. Meetings will be held the last Wednesday of every month from 4-5pm at the library.
You will be given community service hours for time spent at meetings
Any additional time volunteering at the library will count toward your TAB volunteer hours
You will not receive volunteer hours for attending teen programs (unless pre-approved)
