Boys: Vicksburg (3-2) vs. Sturgis (4-2) *
Vicksburg lacks height. Sturgis does for the most part as well, except for the Trojans' 6-foot-10 center. Sturgis seems to have found its stride after a rough start to the year and the Trojans are at home. Sturgis 45, Vicksburg 40
Boys: Hackett (4-1) vs. Constantine (4-0) *
Hackett was picked to win the KVA and the Irish will face arguably their biggest test this Friday night against Constantine. The Falcons are one of the surprise teams this season and have yet to lose a game, but Constantine has yet to play a team as talented as the Irish. Hackett 55, Constantine 48
Boys: Stevensville Lakeshore (5-1) vs. Portage Northern (3-1) *
Stevensville Lakeshore's only loss of the season came in a close game against Otsego. The Lancers' Braden Burke, a 6-foot-10 center, provides an instant matchup problem for Portage Northern. The Huskies may be a pesky team, but they'll be tested Friday night. Stevensville Lakeshore 59, Portage Northern 50
Boys: Gull Lake (0-5) vs. Battle Creek Central (2-5) *
Gull Lake has yet to secure a win, but the Blue Devils do have Jordan Taylor, who has been one of the most prolific scorers in the Kalamazoo area. Battle Creek Central, a perrenial power in the SMAC East, is off to a slow start, but the Bearcats are talented and at home. Battle Creek Central 53, Gull Lake 49
Boys: Lawrence (4-1) vs. Watervliet (2-4) *
Lawrence is coming off its first loss of the season in a tough battle against Fennville. Watervliet, a traditional power, is struggling to find its groove after replacing numerous started. Led by Matt Cammire, Lawrence should get the job done on the road. Lawrence 69, Watervliet 58
Girls: Plainwell (7-0) at Three Rivers (2-4) *
Plainwell has proved its early season ranking and the Trojans are in control of the Wolverine East title race. Three Rivers, led by Krishanna Carter, will hope to pick up a huge win in regard to the Wildcats' conference standing and confidence. Plainwell 56, Three Rivers 48
Girls: Mattawan (4-1) at Loy Norrix (2-5) *
Mattawan is off to a strong start and the Wildcats' only loss came at the hands of Gull Lake early on in this season. Loy Norrix and guard Aviance Alexander-Brown picked up two bigs wins over the holiday break and seem to have improved after a rough start. Mattawan 56, Loy Norrix 44
Girls: Kalamazoo Christian (2-5) vs. Olivet (4-1) *
While no longer in the KVA, Olivet returns to play Kalamazoo Christian in a non-conference game. When the Eagles were in the KVA, they dominated and there isn't much to suggest Olivet won't come away with a victory Friday night. Kalamazoo Christian's Britney Laaksonen may have other ideas, though. Olivet 55, Kalamazoo Christian 43
Girls: Schoolcraft (3-3) at Comstock (3-3) *
Both teams enter the game at 3-3, which seems fair given the similarities in the two programs. Schoolcraft, led by Emma Herr, will look to rebound from a nine-point loss against White Pigeon. Comstock and freshman Ahkyla Blakely will look to kick 2015 off the right way with a big conference win. Comstock 38, Schoolcraft 37
Niles (3-2) vs. Portage Central (0-7) *
Portage Central is off to a rough start and the Mustangs are clearly struggling to replace the scoring output from Jessica Dornhoff last year. Playing at home against Niles could be the perfect recipe for the Mustangs to pick up their first win. Niles 45, Portage Central 43
