Attention President Khator:

We, the undersigned members of the U of H community, oppose the privatization of lawn mowing services.  We ask that the University cancel plans to contract out this work and continue to use U of H employees for all campus landscaping and mowing needs.

Allowing more private contractors on campus to do work previously done by U of H employees has a negative impact on Houston and in the communities where we live.  More lower paying jobs without benefits means more Houstonians relying on public benefit programs for healthcare and income assistance.  A major custodial contractor at U of H, Metro Clean, even has a history of exploiting workers by not adhering to federal wage laws.  As a pillar of the greater Houston Area, it is NOT in our University's best interest to contribute to the growth of an unstable and exploited workforce.  Please reject all proposals and do not proceed with this project.
