This Registration request form is for those students who are interested in enrolling into an online AP course with outside vendors during the MCPS Fall semester only.  Each semester course typically runs 12 - 18 weeks, depending on the vendor.  Completing this form does not commit you to taking the course online.

Current enrolled MCPS Students can only register for MCPS ONLINE vendor approved AP courses from August 11 through April 30.

Summer enrollment interest requests to this office are only accepted from March 15 - April 30th.  No Exceptions can be made to allow a registration request after April 30.  This deadline only applies to our form, not to enrolling with a vendor. Registration/interest requests will be accepted again beginning in August for Fall semester only. 

No student will be approved for any MCPS vendor approved AP online course during the months of May, June, and July. No exceptions.

There is a maximum of 2 courses per MCPS semester or over the summer. If after you receive the approval from our office and decide to wait until next semester to enroll with a vendor, you will be required to register again for that next semester.  Approvals are only for the current MCPS school semester, and it is expected that student enrolls with a vendor during that semester. 

We only allow two selections no matter if counselor does or does not approve your course selections. You cannot replace a course with another selection. You will have to wait until the next semester or summer for that course.

Requested course information will be emailed to the student's school counselor and school administrator to verify that the student meets all course requirements. Once approval is received by the Student Online Learning office, students will be emailed approved third party vendor information.  

Advanced Placement(AP) Courses are limited to MCPS and MSDE approved third-party vendor courses.  

Please note, just because you might see another course offered by a vendor you are looking at for a specific course does not mean that that vendor has been approved by MSDE/MCPS to offer that other course.  Each vendor has only been approved for certain courses.

Course Selection
AP course schedules are set by third-party vendors and are subject to their scheduling restrictions.

Montgomery County Public Schools does not provide financial or academic support for online AP courses.  

A maximum of two (2) courses can be selected/registered during a semester or over the summer. Once two are selected, no additional courses can be requested in place of selected classes in a semester. 

Selecting an AP course below implies both MCPS semester courses. You can sign up with whichever semester course you desire with a vendor. The final transcript will tell us if you took both semester courses, or just one of the semester courses. Some courses are only available as a full year course or only a semester course. Make sure you read the vendors website information carefully, once you are approved to take the course by MCPS.

*AP US Government & Politics (SOC2023) does NOT replace the AP US & Politics with NSL (SOC2021 A/B) course; NOR does it meet NSL graduation requirements.

AP Courses offered via OPTG during the school year will not be approved to take via outside vendor for Fall or Spring semester since the OPTG fall AP courses are free of charge to currently enrolled MCPS students  Your school counselor will register you for these online courses via our OPTG program. We only offer the A semester course in the OPTG fall semester and the B semester course in the OPTG spring semester. 
These courses will be made available for: 
1. Spring registration with an outside vendor for A semester course only as a retake at a cost to you; the B semester course must be taken via OPTG during the spring semester for free. OR 
2. Summer registration (both A and B semester courses for original credit or retake at cost to you.)
