This study group will focus on the fundamentals of Natural Language Processing. The focus will be shifted to understanding important NLP concepts, doing course book exercises to ensure good understanding as well as doing Python implementation.
The course book that we will be using is exceptionally good! It does not only cover pure NLP, but rather mentions all the details that Machine Learning people should know. It has a rigorous vocabulary and very clear explanations and examples.More on the value of reading and knowing details in ML : http://www.aihelsinki.com/on-doing-phd-with-kyunghyun-cho/
The idea of the study group is to create informal and fruitful environment for learning. We will be watching the key videos of the course, do and check exercises together and make question/answering breaks!
