DefundOPD - Invest in Community
Last year, as news broke of the (most recent) OPD police scandal, APTP and the TBO Coalition called for the city to DEFUND the corrupt and violent Oakland Police Department by 50% and to invest that money in our community, to spend it in ways that truly improve the health and safety of Oakland.  As of March 2017, Oakland’s budget cycle has begun, and for the next 3 months, the mayor and city council will be crafting and amending a proposed budget, and their calendars will be filled with public forums and hearings on the topic.  We want to take each and every possible opportunity to build momentum for our campaign, and we need your help!

Responses to this survey, or any suggestions, questions, etc can also be mailed to: DefundOPD@gmail.com.

Can you....
If you can organize with us or go to budget forums, what evenings or other times work best for you?
Can you get trained to table, and do outreach for DefundOPD at community events? If so, which evenings/times work best for you?
Can you help us put together a calendar of budget-related events by making calls, searching the city website, asking people in your neighborhood? And/or, if you know of any such events already, please list them here:
Can you think of organizations (churches, non-profits, community groups, business associations, unions, etc) that might sign a letter of support for our campaign, or we should coordinate with?
