A performative mood board comprised by a magnetic wall, a collection of rainwater pipe magnets, and a program of activations.
In Pouring Whisper, we approach rainwater pipes as an allegory, a conductor for hidden stories, and a symbol for latent networks. Pipes as overlooked neighbors, witnesses of the passage of life, connectors between sky and ground that, with their hose-like bodies, convey more than fluids from one location to another. Pouring Whisper is a performative installation that uses storytelling techniques alongside creative prompts to collectively retell the stories that pipes might entail while mapping the various semiotic, symbolic and speculative entanglements pertaining to this system of pipes. What is inside them? What have they seen? How would they speak? What would they say and reflect about the town, neighborhood, and community? This proposal invites not only to listen but also to participate actively in an exercise of rethinking the anonymous infrastructure that supports the city.
During the activation of Pouring Whisper, the participants will experience a talk addressing rainwater pipes from various perspectives, a sound piece, and a hands-on moment all this while enjoying thematic snacks. The estimated duration of the activation is one and a half hours and the capacity is 12 people.
There are 12 available spots at each workshop, you will get a confirmation on email if you get the spot.
