ABOUT THE FESTIVAL:
The Princeton Student Film & Video Festival is sponsored by the Princeton Public Library and is in its 12th consecutive year.
We provide the opportunity and venue for youth filmmakers (ages 14-25) to screen their work to a broad audience. The festival attendance reaches capacity audiences with about 150 people per night, with lots of appreciation and lively feedback for the filmmakers.
The selected films will be screened in Princeton over two nights -- Wednesday July 22 and Thursday July 23, 2015 at the Princeton Public Library located at 65 Witherspoon Street in downtown Princeton, New Jersey. We may also select additional films for a single showcase screening for the fall of 2015.
For more festival information please go to:
http://www.princetonlibrary.org/find/teens/student-film-festivalThere is no admission to attend the screenings, which are intended for a teen and adult audience.
SELECTION PROCESS:
Selected films will be screened by the 2015 Princeton Student Film & Video Festival Selection Committee, which is made up of the festival coordinator, librarians and other library staff, filmmakers and student and adult volunteers.
Films are evaluated for their visual and audio quality. We also take into consideration the filmmaker’s attention to editing with creativity and skill to tell the story and set a good pace for the film. We highly value submissions that tell a good story.
Decisions are made at the discretion of the committee and all decisions are final. All filmmakers who have been selected for the festival will be notified in mid-June, 2015. The official selections will be posted online by the end of June 2015, at
http://www.princetonlibrary.org/find/teens/student-film-festival.
Filmmakers with entries not selected will not be notified individually, however any inquires about selection status or other concerns are welcome. Please contact PSF&VF Coordinator Susan Conlon at
sconlon@princetonlibrary.org with any questions.
All films must be an original work and have a running time of not more than 20 minutes.
PLEASE NOTE: Less experienced filmmakers should consider submitting films with a total running time of 5 minutes or less; short, well-edited films are more likely to be favorably considered. In past years the longer and more ambitious films accepted as selections for this festival were the work of students with more experience. So: If you think your film is too long, chances are that we will too!
SUBMITTING YOUR WORK:
We only accept finished films– no rough cuts to hold a spot for a film you anticipate will be finished after the deadline.
All entries must be submitted either by mailing a DVD or as a link to view the film on Youtube or Vimeo. Students may submit more than one film but must submit each film on separate DVDs or link. If submitting more than one entry please complete this form and send for each film.
