Moton Family Challenge Scholarship Application
The Moton Family Challenge seeks to award two $2500 merit-based, renewable scholarships to 2 college-bound high school seniors who are direct lineal descendants of students affected by the 3 public school closings in Prince Edward County, Virginia, between 1959 and 1964. Applicants 4 need not currently reside in Prince Edward County to be eligible for the scholarship.

To be considered eligible for the Moton Family Challenge Scholarship, applicants must:
• Be a direct lineal descendant of a student(s) who was denied an education, refused vouchers for a local education, and/or was displaced by the public school closings in Prince Edward County, Virginia, between 1959 and 1964.

• Be enrolled full-time as a high school senior, making good progress toward graduation with plans to enter an accredited two-year or four-year college or university in the fall semester following graduation.

• Maintain a minimum cumulative high school grade point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale).

Award of the scholarship is contingent on the student earning a minimum grade point average of 2.7 in the first semester of university work.

• In order to remain eligible to renew the scholarship, students must maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0.
