Two CIPR members (Anne Nicholls and Richard Bailey) are
carrying out a piece of research for the CIPR entitled From screens to
speech: Investigating Gen Z anxieties with direct interpersonal communication
within the PR profession. The aim is to discover how Generation Z
(born roughly after 1995, aged 18–30) working in public relations or broad communications roles handle tasks such as phone conversations and face-to-face communication.
There have been many reports and media coverage claiming that Gen Z (called the
“anxious generation”) are nervous about interpersonal communication and find
tasks such as networking and cold calling difficult. This research aims to
understand whether this is typical of young people in your organisation or networks who are
working in broad communications roles (covering PR and related areas such as
stakeholder relations and marketing communications) and how you are supporting
them. If you don't work for an organisation it would still be useful to hear your views.
Your responses will provide the CIPR with invaluable
insights that will help them provide resources and services for their members.
There are ten questions. This survey will take less than five minutes to complete.
