DAY 1 - - 24 May 2019, Friday

This session will examine the characteristics and needs of 21st Century children especially the
Generation Z and Generation Alpha.

DAY 2 - - 25 May 2019, Saturday

9.00am - 10.45am Session 2: Parenting Your Cyber-Savvy Child
Examine the effects of modern technological devices such as iPad, mobile phones and the Internet
on primary-aged children. Practical tips on parental guidance will be discussed.

11.00am - 12.45pm Session 3: Home & Church Partnership in Nurturing a Child's Faith
Examine the roles of the family as well as the church and Christian community in nurturing a child's
(6-12 years) faith.

Profile of Speakers: David & Cynthia Leong
David & Cynthia Leong are freelance itinerant Children & Families Educators. In August 2018, they have completed the intensive facilitator training programme for the Parents Plus Early Years and Parents Plus Children Certificate Programmes developed by the Mater Hospital, Dublin, United Kingdom. Over the past years, they have conducted training for children’s workers, parents and teachers and ministered with children and families in countries such as China, East & West Malaysia, Indonesia, Myanmar, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.

David is also a licensed local preacher and missionary of Grace Methodist Church in Singapore. He has served as the full-time Director of Children & Families Ministries, Executive Director of Scripture Union (SU) Singapore and Regional Children’s Ministry Co-ordinator of SU East & West Asia. He has a Master of Christian Studies (M.C.S.) degree from Regent College, Vancouver, Canada and is a certified trainer of teachers for Hope for Kids (previously known as Kids’ Evangelism Explosion)

Cynthia, a former pre-school educator and church-based kindergarten principal of a total of 15 years, has a Bachelor
of Theology (B.Th.) degree from Trinity Theological College, Singapore and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in
Childhood and Family Education from Edith Cowan University, Australia. She has undergone advanced training in
inner healing and discipleship under Ellel Ministries Singapore. She has also been trained in Hope for Kids and is a
facilitator of Parenting with Confidence Workshop for Parents of Pre-school and Primary School children (Focus on
the Family Singapore).

David and Cynthia have been married since Dec 1987 and have three children – Ivan (26+), Alyssa (24+) and
Dorlisa (19+).
