Audition Date: Saturday, February 1st, 2025 (Saturday, February 8th Snow Date)

ELIGIBILITY
This competition is open to all students who have not yet graduated from high school, who study voice, piano or any other instrument and who meet the following requirements:

1. Reside, attend school, and/or study music with a teacher in Connecticut.
2. Able to perform with the orchestra at HSO’s Concert on Sunday, April 27th, 2025.
3. Able to attend at least 3 rehearsals in March and April, including one of the final rehearsals before the concert (Thursday April 24th or Friday April 25th) at the discretion of the music director.
4. Have transportation to all rehearsals and the performance. Our rehearsal and performance venue is Hamden Memorial Town Hall (2372 Whitney Avenue, Hamden, CT 06518).

AUDITION
1. Music selection will consist of one concerto movement, or other similar-length work for soloist and orchestra. Applicants will be informed in a reasonable timeframe after the receipt of the application if their selection is not approved by the Hamden Symphony Music Director. If necessary, they will be able to either select an alternate work or withdraw from the competition at that time.
2. The student is required to provide their own accompanist.
3. The student is required to memorize their solo part is for the audition.
4. The student is required to provide five photocopies of the solo-part for judges at the audition.

AWARDS
Awards will be presented at HSO's Spring Concert on Sunday, April 27th, 2025.

The application deadline is Sunday, January 19th, 2025. Late applications may be accepted depending on availability of timeslots.

If a student finds it necessary to withdraw from the competition, the application fee will be refunded if Hamden Symphony Orchestra is notified by Sunday, January 19th, 2025.
