Chickens are NOT kept at the Ag Project Center or Hog Barn, they are to be kept at home, preferably outside on a covered patio, barn or garage with plenty of fresh flowing air, OUT of the sun, away from dogs and predatory animals, and sheltered from the elements. *
The chickens will be paid for by the student/family and the check will be made directly to the breeder.  Please discuss how much money is in your budget for purchasing the chickens.  Most meat pens are $45-50 per pen of 25 chicks and a breed chicken can be $40-200+ per bird.  I encourage the parent and student to meet the breeder by traveling with me or meeting me there at time of pick up. *
