As a fundraiser, I understand and will comply with Elgon Empowerments 'fundraisers code of practise' and charity 'Values':

Fundraisers code of practice:

Legal Compliance:

Fundraisers must ensure all fundraising activities and conduct comply with relevant laws and regulations. This includes data protection laws, fundraising regulations, and any specific rules related to the type of fundraising activity. Please refer to [insert fundraising website]’s guidance for more information on fundraising compliance.

Transparency:

Fundraisers should be truthful and accurate in all communications with donors, and should be transparent about the charity's activities, finances, and fundraising practices. This includes providing clear information about how donations are used and being open to questions from donors and includes being honest about how donations will be used and avoiding exaggeration or misleading statements. Please see our website and values statement for more information on what Elgon Empowerment does with your donations.

Being Respectful & Our Values:

Fundraisers should treat others with respect and courtesy, including being respectful of the places and environments we work and fundraise within. This includes respecting donors' privacy, not pressuring them into donating, and being sensitive to their individual circumstances. Please see below for Elgon Empowerment’s values, by agreeing to fundraise you agree to respect what our organisation stands for:

Elgon Empowerment's Values:

Solidarity & Locally-led change: Elgon Empowerment is founded on the principle that we mobilise and leverage the resources available to us to specifically support the vision and work of communities in Uganda and East Africa. We are committed to support and respect local empowerment work, local leaders and groups, and defer to the needs of the communities we work with, ensuring we support their vision for change instead of imposing our view of development.

Mutual respect: Elgon Empowerment believes in equality, diversity, and inclusion, respecting all people, and ensuring we're respectful of the environments and places we work in.

Independence & humility: Elgon Empowerment is independent of political, religious or other affiliations. We operate as an interface ready to listen, aware of the importance of working collectively as part of a greater alliance of forces collaborating to alleviate poverty.

Integrity: Elgon Empowerment is committed to being honest, transparent and accountable at all levels, from the resources we use, the programmes we action, and our communications with everyone, in person and online.

Please read and agree to the following 'Participant Acknowledgment and Release' agreement to continue with your sign up:

By participating in any Elgon Empowerment fundraising event, including the "80km for Elgon" challenge and the Mount Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa) climb, all participants acknowledge and agree to the following terms:

Voluntary Participation & Assumption of Risk: Participation in these events is entirely voluntary. Participants understand that physical challenges, especially outdoor activities like mountain climbing, inherently involve risks, including but not limited to those associated with personal health, fitness levels, unforeseen medical emergencies, and variable weather conditions. Participants assume all risks associated with their participation, including the risk of injury, illness, or inability to complete the event.

No Guarantee of Completion: Elgon Empowerment and its event organisers do not guarantee that any participant will be able to complete the chosen event. Factors such as individual health, fitness, preparation, and prevailing weather conditions are beyond the control of the organisers and may necessitate a participant's withdrawal or an event's curtailment.

No Cost Reimbursement: In the event a participant is unable to finish the "80km for Elgon" challenge or the Mount Snowdon climb, whether due to health reasons, adverse weather conditions, personal choice, or any other cause, Elgon Empowerment and its event organisers shall not be liable for, nor obliged to provide, any refunds of any fees, sponsorship funds collected (which remain dedicated to the charity's mission), or reimbursement for any costs incurred by the participant (e.g., travel, accommodation, equipment, medical expenses, lost earnings).

Organiser Discretion: Elgon Empowerment and its event organisers reserve the right to modify, postpone, or cancel events, or to withdraw a participant from an event, at their sole discretion, particularly in situations involving participant safety or extreme weather. Such decisions will be made with the safety and well-being of all participants as the paramount concern.

Fundraising Commitment: Funds raised by participants are considered donations to Elgon Empowerment's charitable objectives. By participating, individuals commit to their fundraising efforts in support of the charity's mission, irrespective of their ability to complete the physical challenge.

By proceeding with registration or participation, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these terms.
