The Directorate General of Shipping is hosting a knowledge sharing event focused on strengthening India’s maritime safety and security architecture through inter-agency dialogue, international cooperation, and casualty-led learning. The event will focus on India’s maritime safety priorities, industry alignment on liability and risk, and regional security cooperation.
The programme features four thematic sessions covering casualty learnings, stakeholder roles in maritime safety, interoperability mechanisms, and India’s integrated response to maritime threats.

Venue : Fairmont Sahara Mumbai, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport Mumbai, Terminal 2, CTS No 1405 (Part), Vile Parle, Mumbai, Maharashtra 400099.
Aim: The event is designed to achieve the following key objectives:
1. Review India’s current maritime safety priorities by examining lessons from recent casualties, regulatory compliance issues, and operational risk management practices.
2. Facilitate alignment across liability stakeholders—including P&I Clubs, insurers, salvors, and classification societies—on collaborative safety and claims management frameworks.
3. Enhance maritime domain awareness and coordination through sessions on information-sharing mechanisms like IFC-IOR, regional cooperation, and port/coastal security linkages.
4. Assess India’s integrated maritime security response to piracy, grey-zone threats, and evolving regional threat scenarios through structured inputs from the Navy, NSCS, and international partners.
This initiative seeks to bring together regulators, legal experts, shipping operators, and global security partners to align on practical pathways for building a resilient, responsive, and risk-aware maritime system for India and the wider region.
