To mark the Independence Day, the Museum has invited Chandrakant Kale, a well-known Marathi playback singer and actor to perform select poems that focus on sociological issues of the post Independence era, that are still relevant to us today.

Compositions by renowned Marathi poets B. S. Mardhekar, Kusumagraj, Arun Kolatkar and V. D. Karandikar as well as verses by Menka Shivdasani, Nilmoni Phukan, G. S. Shivarudrappa, Shakti Chattopadhyay, A. K. Ramanujan, Ayyappa Panikkar, Akhtar Ul Iman, A. G. Sankara Pillai will be read during the performance. The poems in other Indian languages are translated in Marathi by Anupama Ujgare.

Chandrakant Kale's theatre academy 'Shabdvedh', has showcased programmes like 'Preetrang', 'Shevantiche Ban', 'Amrut Gatha' that offer fresh ideas and perspectives.

This programme will be conducted in Marathi.

Time: 05:00 pm to 06:30 pm
Open to all. Museum entry charges applicable.
Limited seating on a first-come, first serve basis.
Venue: Education Centre, Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Museum, next to Veermata Jijabai Bhonsale Udyan (Rani Bagh), Byculla East.
