Presentation by San Diego River Park Foundation
Geodata for a Healthy San Diego River

Join staff from the San Diego River Park Foundation as they discuss two exciting citizen science data mapping projects and ways for volunteers to get involved:

1) Learn about how volunteers perform field surveys to identify trash sites for clean up, using a beginner-friendly Google Maps based app (Mappler). Collected data is then shared with the trash clean-up team, public agencies, researchers, policy makers, and the public.

2) Learn about our upcoming San Diego River experience: FishViews. This platform will incorporate volunteer collected 360-degree photographs and other field data. End-users will be able to digitally navigate the San Diego River and can view GIS layered information about water quality, points of interest, and more!

Speakers:

Andrew Meyer -- As Field Coordinator for the San Diego River Park Foundation, Andrew oversees data collection for the Clean River Program. Andrew recently moved to San Diego after working in watershed management for the Hudson River in New York.

Ally Welborn – As Community Engagement Manager for the San Diego River Park Foundation, Ally oversees all outreach and volunteer management for the organization. Ally has worked in volunteer management in the San Diego region for 7 years.
