City of Bloomington Proclamation Request
Throughout the year, Mayor Hamilton recognizes individuals and organizations by issuing a City of Bloomington proclamation in their honor.

Proclamations can designate a specific date, week or month of recognition. A proclamation is only good for the year it is signed. The day, week, or month is not set aside for that organization the following year, as a new proclamation would have to be signed for this to happen. An organization does not have exclusive rights to the day, week, or month of their proclamation. More than one cause can be proclaimed simultaneously.

The Mayor's issuance of a proclamation does not constitute an endorsement and it cannot be used to solicit funds or donations for any organization.

You may request for the Mayor to present a proclamation. Someone from the Mayor's staff may present a proclamation if the Mayor is not available. In the case of such requests, the Office of the Mayor must receive a "Request for Appearance" by the Mayor form.

All proclamation requests should be submitted to the Office of the Mayor no less than three weeks before the date the proclamation is needed.

When requesting a proclamation, you can submit text that you have written below or ask the mayor’s staff to write the text that will be included. If choosing the second option, please include as many details as possible about the person, organization or event that you are recognizing in the details of the request below.

Once the text has been finalized, a draft of the proclamation will be submitted to you for review.

The final version of the proclamation will be printed and the City of Bloomington seal will be affixed before it is given to Mayor Hamilton to sign.

After the mayor signs the proclamation, it will be available for pick up in the Office of the Mayor between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm Monday through Friday.
