The award is available to Scouter Families (registered in the BSA) who have rendered service of an
outstanding nature within their District. The award is a council award presented by the District in the same
manner that the Silver Beaver is a national award presented by the Council. The Award is made available
annually, one per district. The District need not present the award each year.
Requirements:
- The nominees must be registered Scouters.
- The nominees must have rendered noteworthy service to youth.
- The nature and value of the “noteworthy service” may consist of a single plan or decision that contributed vitally to the lives of large numbers of youth, or it may have been given to a small group over an extended period of time.
- Consideration should be given to the nominees’ position and the corresponding opportunity to render outstanding service beyond the expectation of duty in that position.
- The nominees’ attitude toward and cooperation with other Scouters-both volunteers and professional – is to be taken into consideration.
