Join Denver Food Rescue’s Board of DirectorsDenver Food Rescue (DFR), proud recipient of the 2024 Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce Small Nonprofit of the Year Award, is seeking passionate individuals to join our Board of Directors. As a leader in addressing food insecurity, advancing climate action, and promoting social justice, DFR is committed to creating a just and equitable food system for all Denver residents.
About UsIn a city as vibrant as Denver, the stark reality of food apartheid persists—20 neighborhoods across 15 zip codes face systemic barriers to accessing fresh food due to urban policy and structural inequity. Since 2014, Denver Food Rescue has worked to confront these disparities head-on by recovering fresh, surplus food and redistributing it directly to communities in need.
By addressing the intersection of food waste and health inequities, we provide culturally relevant and nutritious food options while reducing the environmental impact of food loss.
MissionTo recover and redistribute fresh, surplus food, increase nutrition security among those most impacted by unjust systems, and decrease the climate impact of food loss through a more circular food system.
VisionWe envision a future where health equity is the norm, and all individuals have the autonomy and resources to access and produce the food they need to thrive. This just food system prioritizes food sovereignty, respects cultural heritage, and promotes sustainable practices to ensure resilience for future generations.
