Spring 2025 - Jessye Norman School of the Arts Eastside Atlanta Student Artist Application
Jessye Norman School of the Arts - Eastside Atlanta (JNSA2)  offers an afterschool program featuring arts education and academic support. Student artists are provided snacks during the afterschool program. JNSA2 student artists have the opportunity to participate in Arts infused projects with professional artists.


JNSA2 is an after school and summer enrichment program designed to develop and nurture the artistic and creative talents of student artists.  The School of the Arts serves the cultural and educational needs of these youth by providing:

  • Tuition-free Fine Arts instruction

  • Academic Tutoring and Intervention

  • An advanced level study in dance, drama, music, art, and creative writing and more

  • Exposure to professionals working within the arts fields

  • Information on possible careers in the arts

  • Knowledge of technical aspects of presentation and performance

JNSA2 Afterschool Program

Location: JNSA2, 2005 S. Columbia Pl. Decatur, GA 30032

Afterschool Program Dates: February 3 - May 9, 2025

Schedule: Mondays-Fridays, 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM


Student Artist Requirements:

  • Letter of Recommendation - Provide a (1) letter of recommendation from fine art teacher (music, band, chorus, drama, dance, visual/digital art, creative reading and writing teacher.)

  • Audition and Interview - New students will need to audition and interview before being considered for acceptance into the program. 

  •  Attendance - Students must attend every day of the program. Excused absence includes emergencies, sudden illness, or appointments.

  • Participation - Student Artists are expected to be cooperative, respectful, and maintain the highest standards of honesty and integrity. Enthusiastic participation is a requirement of being a JNSA student. 

  • Age Range - Student artists ages 8 - 18 years old

  • Showcase and Gallery Performance - The Spring afterschool program culminates with a Showcase on May 9, 2025 followed by an encore on May 11, 2025. Students are required to perform at the showcase and the encore. 

Transportation

Great news! JNSA2 has recently purchased a bus. A list of schools included in the bus route will be announced soon.

If your school is not a part of the bus route, parents are required to make arrangements for their student's transportation.

PHOTOGRAPHS AND VIDEO OF STUDENTS
Photographs and videos of students are routinely used to enhance newsletters, websites, and displays. They are also used to record, acknowledge, and communicate student learning activities with the JNSA2 community. Students’ photos and videos are used on class blogs, closed social media groups and, from time to time, on our JNSA2 social media platforms. 

Explicit consent is required for photos to be used in other publications that are not affiliated with the JNSA2. 

I give permission for my child’s photo to be taken for the purpose of sharing or celebrating learning, and other achievements. I consent to these photos being published on the JNSA2 social media platforms and on school noticeboards or digital communications, provided that no contact details are included.
