Lifetime Achievement

This award honors an occupational therapy professional who has demonstrated extraordinary leadership, service, and shown dedication to the profession through their commitment to advancing occupational therapy practice, education, and advocacy over the course of their career.

Practitioner of the Year

The WOTA Practitioner of the Year Award honors an exceptional occupational therapy professional who exemplifies excellence in clinical practice, leadership, and service to the profession. This individual is recognized for their significant and sustained contributions to the field of occupational therapy in Wisconsin, serving as a role model and source of inspiration to colleagues, students, and the broader community.

This award celebrates those who have not only advanced the profession through their own work but have also inspired others through their dedication, innovation, and leadership.

Nominees should show a strong commitment to occupational practice in a variety of ways—this might include:

Therapeutic Practice: Delivering innovative, evidence-based, and occupation-centered care that enhances client outcomes.

Education: Advancing the profession through teaching, mentorship, or curriculum development.

Research: Contributing to the evidence base of occupational therapy through scholarly work.

Administration: Demonstrating leadership in program development, management, or policy.

Organizational and Community Service: Actively engaging in service to WOTA, AOTA, or the broader community through advocacy, volunteerism, or public education.

Professional Leadership: Facilitating collaboration, innovation, and excellence in occupational therapy across settings.

Fieldwork Educator of the Year

This award honors an occupational therapist professional who has demonstrated exceptional dedication, leadership, and excellence in fieldwork education. The recipient is held in high esteem by students and colleagues alike, recognized for their deep knowledge of occupational therapy and their outstanding ability to mentor and facilitate the fieldwork education process across a diverse range of student experiences.

Nominees should show a strong commitment to fieldwork education in a variety of ways—this might include:

Collaborating with academic institutions and Academic Fieldwork Coordinators to tailor fieldwork experiences to individual student needs.

Utilizing innovative supervision models to meet the evolving demands of fieldwork education.

Providing fieldwork opportunities in creative or non-traditional practice settings.

Engaging in continuing education related to supervision, teaching, and mentoring, while staying current with curriculum and professional developments.

Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams and offering students exposure to broader clinical or community settings.

Contributing to the profession beyond the fieldwork site through guest lecturing, in-service presentations, admissions support, or other academic involvement.

Encouraging student engagement in professional associations and modeling active participation.

Promoting evidence-based practice in fieldwork through thoughtful assessment and intervention strategies.

Creating optimal learning environments that support student success.

WOTA Mission Impact Award

The WOTA Mission Impact Award honors an individual or organization that has made a significant and lasting contribution to advancing the mission and vision of the Wisconsin Occupational Therapy Association. This award recognizes those who champion occupational therapy as a vital force in helping all people engage in meaningful occupations to optimize their life experience.

Nominees may be occupational therapy practitioners, educators, advocates, or organizational partners who have:

Demonstrated exceptional commitment to WOTA’s mission through leadership, advocacy, service, and/or innovation.

Made a measurable impact on the association’s goals, operations, or visibility within the state.

Contributed to the growth and advancement of occupational therapy in Wisconsin through initiatives that align with WOTA’s values and strategic direction.

This award may also recognize individuals who have served in official WOTA roles and gone above and beyond in facilitating board business, strengthening the association’s infrastructure, or inspiring others through their dedication and vision.

Whether through education, policy, community engagement, or organizational leadership, recipients of this award embody the spirit of WOTA and help shape a future where occupational therapy continues to thrive and make a difference in the lives of all Wisconsinites.
