Hello! I am Brianna Schmeis, and I am a student at Hill Country College Preparatory High School who is participating in AP Research. My topic for this class brings up the subject of middle school sports participation and the development of personality traits. I personally felt that I was unable to reap the full benefits of sports while I was in middle school due to traits I could not control. This study aims to create an understanding as to how sports in middle school can be beneficial for teens and bring light to possibilities that would allow equal access for athletes of all personality types.
This survey will ask questions regarding athletes' participation in both trying out for and participating in a middle school sport. Participants will then be asked to complete the Myers-Briggs personality test to determine their "type" and specific percentages for each evaluated trait.
Forms will be collected from early January to mid-February, however, participants will only need approximately 20 to 30 minutes to complete the survey. At any point in time, participants have the right to withdraw their information from the study, and participants also have the right to access the finalized project.
Participants should be informed that though the Myers-Briggs personality test is a way of quantifying one's personality, a personality test can never be fully accurate. There are always inherent biases in these sorts of questionnaires and the results of the test do not define one's full and complete person.
Participants also have full confidentiality while a part of this project. No personal information will be shared with any parties. As aforementioned, participants also have the right to withdraw themselves at any moment during the process. The results of this project will be only by shared with my supervising teacher, possibly other participants, and CollegeBoard.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me, at schmeb9789@g.comalisd.org, or my supervising teacher, Christina Varvel, at christina.varvel@comalisd.org.
By providing the digital signature of both a parent/guardian and the participant, both parties are agreeing to participate in the project that has been outlined above.
Once the form is filled out, you will be emailed an anonymous survey at the address inputted below.
