GDI Chicago Scholarships

Our goal is to be a sustainable organization that offers low-cost web development classes to women. With that in mind, if there's a class that you want to attend but cannot afford for financial reasons, please apply for a scholarship using this form. We collect donations from local companies that we can pass on to our members.

We will let you know two weeks prior to the class start date if you have received a scholarship.

We prioritize financial hardship above all else for scholarships. However, due to the high number of applications we receive and the limited funds available, additional factors come into play.

We prioritize scholarships for members that are active in the group. If you have not attended any Girl Develop It events, or have not been an active member in recent months, it is strongly recommended that you attend a free event, such as Code and Coffee, a speaker event, or Hack Night, prior to applying for a scholarship.

PARENTS: We do understand it is difficult for working parents, especially single parents, to attend free events. This is also part of our decision making process.

    Eligibility and forfeiture *IMPORTANT!*

Lack of response to any emails from GDI co-leaders regarding your scholarship application will lead to forfeiture of the scholarship. Absence on the day of the class (or any day of the class for multiple session classes) will result in ineligibility for any future scholarships through Girl Develop It. By submitting your application, you agree to these stipulations.
