Guys, I finally finished the first draft of a writing project I’ve been working on more or less in earnest for about 6 years, though the idea has been simmering since circa 2008. It's a coming-of-age memoir examining--along with antagonists like depression and bad skin and moral guilt--the various crushes of my youth. Yes, on boys, but also on clothing styles, abstract concepts, study-abroad me...and the muse from Billy Joel’s “She’s Always a Woman.”
So what's next? Currently (11/2021) it's in the hands of a few beta readers for feedback—a hefty ask as it clocks in at 259 pages. I hope that it makes all future readers, especially my fellow Millennials, feel entertained, seen, and inspired to reflect on their own life stories.
I share a little more about the book in an Instagram video that you can find at the top of my Story highlights, @megan.oconnor09. Some older writing can be found at

Subscribe below to find out what becomes of this project! I may serialize it through a private newsletter or potentially pursue publication. In any case, I'm so grateful to you for coming along with me.
