“Neighbors to Nature” Cache Creek Naturalist Experience

******** Registration has Closed for this event********

Join professional scientists to record plant and animal life found alongside one of Jackson’s most beloved trails that sits on the border of the Gros Ventre Wilderness.

The purpose of the measurements we will make is to track changes over time in trail width, trail erosion or deposition, and vegetation composition near the trail, with special attention to introduced plants (especially noxious weeds).  This is going to be the baseline of conditions, to be repeated over time at the same locations.  These transects will help the Forest Service monitor how well the Gros Ventre Wilderness is retaining its wild character.

We will be led and instructed in easy measuring techniques, and will also learn about the plant communities and wildlife in the Woods Canyon area. Do bring: clothing suitable for mid-October and durable footwear. Equipment provided.

Open to all ages.

When: October 12th at the Cache Creek Trailhead
