Nunhead Art Trail Registration 2019

The Nunhead Art Trail is organised by a team of volunteers and is aimed at artists/craftspeople who want to show and sell their work in their own homes/studios, or local venues within the area of Nunhead and for visitors to meet the artists.

The Art Trail takes place over one weekend. The dates for 2019 are 28th & 29th September. Participating venues must be open from 11 AM to 6 PM.

The Art Trail is for artists/craftspeople who are confident in presenting and selling their works and can embrace ceramics, collage, craft & design, drawing, glass, hand-made furniture, illustration, jewellery, painting, performance, photography, printmaking, recycling/upcycling, sculpture, street art, textiles, and more.

Most participants will be artists showing their own work in their own homes/studios and may invite other artists to exhibit with them.

Artists may find local Nunhead venues e.g. pubs, shops, and cafes to host their work. It is advised that artists and venues should ensure that both are clear on the event and administration in advance.

Each artist/craftsperson must complete the registration form (link below - including promotional text about your work, max. 35 words), provide an image to be used in the booklet/brochure, and pay a registration fee of £35. If two people register to exhibit together, they must pay £70 in total and supply one image each.

Where there are three or more artists/craftspeople showing at the same venue, you can choose the following option - a flat fee of £100 with three images. The 4th, 5th, etc. artist will get a name check and edited text about their work only.
However, if each artist in the group exhibit wants an individual image and text the registration fee is £35 per artist.

The website will be updated with a map plotting all the venues and include links to artist's own websites/blogs. Brochures will also be produced.

Both the website and brochures will contain an image and description of each fee-paying artist's work. Thousands of brochures will be available to the public in local shops, libraries, pubs, and schools in early September 2019. Each artist will also have copies to distribute themselves.

The event will be publicised in local papers and on our website and social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

We will add your email address - along with your blog/website URL - to the information on our website and brochure. We will publicise your website etc. on social media. If you do not want to be included on some things please let us know by a separate email. We are required under the GDPR to state that CONSENT is the lawful basis for collecting your personal data. Consent is deemed to have been given because you have provided your name and email address and contact details within your application.

Your own open house/studio:
The hope and expectation is that you will find it a very rewarding experience. It is an excellent opportunity to make contacts, meet the public, receive feedback, and of course, sell your work. However, it is a large undertaking that takes thought and preparation. You must feel comfortable opening your home/studio to strangers and be prepared for periods when there will be no visitors and then possibly a rush of them. Visitor numbers can vary quite a lot from venue to venue.

Previous years have been tremendous successes, but the number of visitors you have will be influenced by how much publicity you do yourself and how much you participate in sharing our publicity on social media.

Private views:
Artists may wish to have a private view in the run up to the Art Trail as a way of opening on a high and it can promote sales. However, it is a matter of personal choice and is not advertised in the brochure or on the website.

Insurance and safety:
We advise artists to be aware that they are responsible for insuring their work and the contents of their home/studio during the weekend. The Nunhead Art Trail is not able to provide public liability insurance and you must ensure that you have this in place.

The artists' information company Artists Newsletter,, has information regarding insurance and currently offers insurance along with subscription to their newsletter. Please research what would best suit your circumstances.

Artists should ensure that at least two people are present during the event visiting time for security.

The registration fee is non-refundable (unless we are unable to accommodate your entry, e.g in the case of late or incomplete entries).

Preparing your image:
Image sizes need to be at least 16cm x 10cm (portrait or landscape and 300 dpi, or 1890px x 1240px if at 72 dpi). As an indication, this should give a jpeg image size of 2MB or more (avoid compressing the images if possible, as this creates distortion when printing litho). Please don’t upsize the images yourself as it will also affect the printed outcome. Please name the file with your full name, divider, then the work's title as shown here: “Vincent van Gogh - Sunflowers”. Submit the image by email to
