Gastroparesis & Weight

I am working on an article right now about #GP and weight, because in the past three weeks, I have gotten message after message telling me either doctors won't treat them because they're too overweight, or families pick on and don't believe their family member has GP due to their weight. WEIGHT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH GP LIKE THAT! It makes me angry. If you have gastroparesis, you have gastroparesis. It doesn't mean you're not malnourished, have vitamin deficiencies, or dehydrated.

Would anyone care to share their story with me if you've been through this?

I know I'm on the heavier side of GP, myself, but I've also lost over 50 pounds. I have other autoimmune issues (I have a theory that GP is autoimmune), which contribute to my problems as well.

If you do want to share your story, please let me know in the email if you want me to change your name or if I can use your name. Also, if you went through issues with your family/doctor/etc, was there a resolution? If so, can you share that too? It might help someone else.

If you would like to share your story, please email it to me. I appreciate you taking the time to fill out this survey. One more question - has your GI tried to get you to get a gastric bypass? If so, please reach out to me and I can give you my blog article with all of the papers they gave me, that I uploaded. I did a lot of research and after a year, I decided it wasn't for me. But I want you to be able to make an informed decision. So, I'll ask again: One more question - has your GI tried to get you to get a gastric bypass? *
