Nashville Chess Center
Students will learn and practice chess.

Yearbook
Students will create the school’s yearbook. Learn basic layout/design, Adobe InDesign/Illustrator/Photoshop skills, journalism, and photography. This club involves extra time working on the yearbook outside of club meetings. Interested and responsible students who can meet deadlines need apply.
Grade: 8th grade, 8-10 students per school

Quiz Bowl

Littlestone Choir and Theater
Students will learn about harmony, melody, rhythm, composition & songwriting, basic piano skills, solfeggio, vocal technique, music literacy, aural comprehension, and more! There will be at least one in-school performance per semester, with a minimum of one optional community/invitational performance per YEAR (in the first year of the program).

Southern Word Spoken Word
Whether you are a poet, songwriter, or rapper, there is something for you in this workshop where each week you will learn to write and perform your own poetry from your personal life experiences. We will focus on developing colorful writing and building confidence as performers in an encouraging environment. Sessions culminate in showcase opportunities at Southern Word’s Middle School Showcase and Middle School Slam.

Small World Yoga
Gain strength, flexibility and balance with non-competitive games that release energy and challenge students’ coordination, dexterity, focus, memory, and teamwork. Inversions and arm balances like headstands, handstands, and crow pose!

Turnip Green Creative Reuse Arts Club
Create several finished art projects using a variety of techniques and sustainable materials. The cross-curricular art lessons will supportTurnip Green's mission of "fostering creativity and sustainability through reuse" and will be facilitated by a talented teaching artist.

Nashville Music Academy Rock Band
Scholars will work as an ensemble performing contemporary pop/rock songs suitable for their age. This will include repertoire from several eras (60’s to Present) in a classic band arrangement (guitar, bass, keys, drums and vocals). Good for beginner and intermediate students who already have an instrument.

Cost: $147 (Program fees do NOT include possible instrument rental)
Nashville Music Academy Orchestral Ensemble
Scholars will work on ensemble pieces for strings, brass, woodwind and keyboard. Students interested in this group should have some experience with their instrument. The repertoire includes traditional and classical pieces.

Nashville Music Academy Singer/Songwriter Club
Scholars work as a group and in smaller satellite groups writing and performing original and cover songs. Beginner piano and guitar students do well in this group. There is also a choir aspect. Beginner and Intermediate vocalists also welcome.

STEAM 4 Girls - ( Few spots are available for Thursdays only)

STEAM 4 Girls provides hands-on experience in science, technology, engineering, the arts and math. While we will still do many activities in all STEAM subjects, our focus this year will be on technology and include an introduction to robotics and 'maker' activities.

Learn building and programming robotics using the Vex IQ platform.
