About the Show:
The story follows Ariel, a beautiful and adventurous mermaid princess of the underwater kingdom of Atlantica. She is captivated by the human world above the sea and dreams of living on land. When she falls in love with Prince Eric, she must defy her father, King Triton, and make a deal with the sea witch Ursula to gain legs — the price being the loss of her voice.

GENERAL PRODUCTION POLICIES (PLEASE READ!! THEY ARE DIFFERENT THIS YEAR.)
SCHEDULE: A tentative rehearsal schedule is provided at auditions. We will rehearse both in class and daily after school. There will be some weekend requirements. A finalized rehearsal schedule is provided the first week of rehearsals.
Please understand that all members of the ensemble may be required stay for the entire scheduled rehearsal… early pick-ups will not be allowed without being listed on the conflict sheet.
PRODUCTION FEE - All productions with the CSHS Theatre Department have a PRODUCTION fee for both cast and crew positions. This fee covers several meals & snacks, and help fund general production expenses. Plays and small musicals have a production fee of $150 and large musicals have a production fee of $230. Checks should be made out to Carroll Theatre and if you are paying with card, a link will be sent out at a future date.
Rehearsals are “closed” and you need to request permission from a director before you invite anyone to watch a rehearsal.
MEALS & SNACKS–Rehearsals go late in the day, and most students need an afternoon snack. Students are also asked to bring snacks on long rehearsal days and to technical rehearsals. Students also need to have water at their rehearsals. Parents will also be asked to help provide snacks & meals on long rehearsal days for the cast and crew.
ADDITIONAL EXPENSES – Some items cannot be covered in the production fee. Daily snacks, specific or personal costume pieces or accessories (shoes, tights, undergarments etc…) personal stage make up, and occasionally money for meals (during tech week.) Please check with your student to know when they will need extra money.
CELL PHONES - We will enforce a strict No Cell Phone Policy during scheduled rehearsals so please understand that your student will not be allowed to answer texts or calls during rehearsals. The director’s number is always available for you to text in case of an emergency.
END OF REHEARSAL – We ask that after rehearsal you give your student a few minutes “grace period” to get out to the car… We will work very hard to get students out by our scheduled time… but occasionally we may go run a few minutes over. Please be flexible with us as we sometimes have to get out of costume, clean up, or finish notes and that can cause us to run a few minutes later than expected. We hope never to keep them over 10 minutes past the listed end of rehearsal time… and that is only if there is a real need.
PICK UP – Please plan to pick up your student at the time listed on the schedule. Since students will not be able to text you and tell you when to come we have provided a schedule for the parents. Please understand that at times we finish rehearsals after dark and your student needs to be picked up promptly for his or her safety. Directors will wait with students as long as possible… but we also have to leave at a reasonable time to pick up our own children.
PERFORMANCE – We encourage all parents to attend our shows to support our team. It is very important to the students that you are there to “see” their work. Students who are out of sight and backstage have still worked very hard on this production and it is still very important to them that their friends and family are in the audience to see their work.
