Welcome to the STREAM Center of Learning
The STREAM Center of Learning is the Kenton County Public Library's new makerspace. A makerspace is a collaborative work space for making, learning, exploring and sharing that uses high tech to no tech tools. These spaces are open to all ages and abilities. The space will have a variety of maker equipment including 3D printers, laser cutters, soldering irons, and even sewing machines. We are located at 401 Kenton Lands Rd, Erlanger, KY. We are open Monday - Friday 10am-9pm (Mon-Fri 9am-10am by appointment only), Saturday 10am-6pm, and Sunday 1pm-5pm.
Agreement & Equipment Use Policy
1. Patron must be age 13 or over to use the (3-5 gear) equipment by themselves.
2. Equipment can be reserved for only 2 hours at a time, after that point someone else will be allowed to use it.
3. STREAM Center staff will be available to assist in explaining operation of equipment. However, by using the equipment, the patron is certifying that he or she is capable of using that item in a safe and reasonable manner.
4. Only the patron (who has signed the waiver) is authorized to use the equipment.
5. Patrons must finish using the equipment half an hour before closing time (Monday -Friday 9 pm, Saturday 6 pm, and Sunday 5 pm) and the equipment must be cleaned up when finished. Patrons can not start a project one hour before closing time.
6. Equipment that has been reserved will be held for only 20 minutes. Then staff reserves the right to give it to someone waiting.
7. The patron agrees that staff are not responsible for any manufacturing defects in quality of workmanship or materials inherent in any equipment used.
8. The patron agrees that if any equipment becomes unsafe or in a state of disrepair, he or she must immediately discontinue use of equipment and notify staff immediately.
9. All equipment are to be returned in the same condition that they were issued, barring normal wear and tear. The patron agrees to pay for the loss of or damage to any item and further agrees to accept staff assessment of condition of items and to further agree to staff assessment of fair restitution for damage, dirtiness, delinquency, and/or loss of items in part or in total. This restitution amount could equal the full replacement cost of the item.
10. Staff reserves the right to refuse the usage of any item at their discretion.
I state that I have read and fully understand the rules and regulations of the STREAM Center, and I understand that failure to comply with any of these rules may result in revocation of my borrowing privileges and/or legal action against me. I have read and signed a waiver and release form, relinquishing any and all claims against the Kenton County Public Library, and the officers, agents, and employees of the aforementioned entity. *
