Generally, the goal of the Queer Mentorship Program is to link Ohio University LGBTQQIA (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Questioning, Intersex and Asexual) students who are new to Ohio University and/or the queer community with mentors who can provide them with academic, personal, and social support.
The basic requirements:
The mentoring program will last one year. Trainings, matching and first meetings will take place in the Fall Semester and your mentorship match will continue into the Spring semester.
Participants must be at least 18 years of age.
Participants must attend: 2 SafeZones throughout the year (either one SafeZone 101 and one SafeZone 201 or two SafeZone 201s) and 2 LGBT Center events.
Mentors: provide the LGBT center will bi-weekly updates via email..
[Confidentiality Notice]: Confidentiality is of paramount importance. Participants’ involvement in the program will not be known by anyone except mentors/mentees unless mentees wish otherwise. We ask that you act with sensitivity to this concern, as the mentor/mentee relationship will be driven by the wants and needs of the mentee.
