Regarding the Festival, we currently use an invitation method for scheduling storytellers rather than an audition process. The Festival is generally scheduled two to three years in advance.
If you would like to be considered for the Timpanogos Storytelling Festival as a featured full or half slot storyteller or to be considered as a Timp Tell Showcase teller, please fill out this form and send at least 45-minutes to an hour of performance audio or video in the form of an internet link, a DVD or CD. Also as part of this form we need a resume, three references and a high quality photo.
The best way for you to impress our programming committee is to have strong samples of your work for us to look at. We (working in Utah) cannot make it to most venues around the country to hear and see someone perform, so strong audio and video samples for us to see goes a long way. Also knowing where you have performed previously and where you will be performing in the future helps as we discuss and make our decisions.
Timpanogos Storytelling aims to provide high-quality, family-friendly entertainment and education, and loves (no profanity or sexual references.) Please keep this in mind as you consider material to submit to us.
TIMP TELL SHOWCASE TELLERSOur Timp Tell event is changing! We are happy to announce that our 2019 Festival will showcase up-and-coming tellers on stage with our featured tellers. If you would like the opportunity to tell on stage for 40 minutes next year, please follow the guidelines for application listed below.
FEATURED FESTIVAL STORYTELLERSTypically, successful applicants wanting to perform as a storyteller have performed at other national storytelling festivals. Those wanting a full time slot must have enough varied material to perform around 7–8 hours for the full weekend. Half time slots require 3–4 hours of material. Festival performance slots vary between 10 minutes, 20–30 minutes, or 1 hour—most full time storytellers do a variety of all three. Selections of participating storytellers are made by a volunteer program committee whose recommendations are submitted to the Festival Board. This decision making process involves many different voices, almost all of whom are volunteers. In addition, having many voices helps to insure that the Festival celebrates many different storytelling voices and styles.
