Code of Conduct for Delegation Advisors + Other Adults:

1. Must appear present and wear business attire during the program

2. Smoking or use of tobacco products in the presence of participants or parent/guardians during program activities is prohibited.

3. Using, possessing or being under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs during program activities is prohibited.

4. Will refrain from any form of abuse, including verbal, physical or sexual abuse.

5. Will treats all teens with respect, consideration and equality, regardless of gender, races, age, religions, cultures, sexual orientations, economic status.

6. Use positive techniques of guidance including redirection, anticipation of and elimination of potential problems, positive reinforcement, and encouragement, rather than competition, comparison, and criticism.

7. Abstain from using profanity in the presence of participants.

8. Refrain from intimate displays of affection towards others in the presence of participants, parents, and staff.

9. Portray a positive role model for participants by maintaining an attitude of patience, courtesy, tact and maturity, along with the YMCAs core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.

10. Will not fraternize with participants in or out of the program.

11. Ensure being in public view at all times when needing to meet with a student one-on-one, for reasons such as sensitive issues, disciplinary accountability, etc.

12. Responsible for the total supervision of their delegation, both locally and at conference components, and expected to adhere to the Code of Ethics and reinforce its meaning with their participants, as well as attend the Advisor's training meeting.
